Page #19. IKEBANA – When You Arrive There

September 19, 2014

Technically speaking, there is not much going on on ‘When You Arrive There’, but at the same time this is what makes it so brilliant – what these women can achieve with the help of two guitars and their own voices is simply mesmerising. Genuinely effortless yet awe-inspiring, emphasizing form and balance.

Japanese female duo IKEBANA (which literally means ‘living flowers’) consists of two very gifted female artists, Maki and En. Maki is a very traditional Japanese, she only owns an old mobile phone, doesn’t have digital equipments and does not even use the internet. Her musical influence is limited to the 80’s. In additional to music making, she also makes hand-made clothing with her own collages.
