One week left until the splendid Intonal Experimental Music Festival starts in Malmö – it’s time for a little warm-up. We asked Vladimir Ivkovic, one of the performing artists to give us a taste of what you might or might not hear during his DJ set on 28th April. Just to be on the safe side, go and find out for yourself!
Vladimir was born and raised in Belgrade, former Yugoslavia, where he witnessed the peak of alternative culture and disintegration of the society. After moving to Germany in the beginning of the 90s, Ivkovic emerged as a (low) key player in the underground electronic scene. He’s now a long time resident DJ at Salon des Amateurs in Düsseldorf and the head of Offen Music, a label specialized in “authentic subjectivism”. Here are 5 tracks he might play and the reason why.
1. Smagghe & Cross – Warren [Offen Music]
Some kind of explicit dance tune from their fantastic debut album „MA“ released on Offen Music.
2. Coby Sey: Active (Peak) [Whities]
Recently I saw Coby playing at the Whites party in London. Authentic music, great new release.
3. Don’t DJ: Repetition [Fullfridge Music]
Nothing less than proper dance music. Florian’s output at the moment is impressive and I’m looking forward to what’s coming up next.
4. Toulouse Low Trax: Monia [Antinote]
It is quite rare that I play out and not play something from Detlef. This one is from Toulouse Low Trax archive that Antionte shared with the world on 3 12“s.
5. Jan Berrocal: Rock’n Roll Station [d’Avantage]
Because it is always right.
